Good Morning Paddle: 9 AM - 9:45 AM
Service: 10 AM -11 AM
Gather on the shores or on the water of Long Lake for CUUF’s Annual Water Service! Reflect on connections you have to water and how water connects us to each other and place. This year’s opening reflection will be by Will Kendall from the Superior Rivers Watershed Association. Attend floating in a boat/paddleboard or on a lawn chair from the shore (please bring your desired seat). This will be in person only as we are unable to livestream from Long Lake.
Directions to Long Lake: Go west on Wannabo Road (just south of the City of Washburn). Turn right onto Forest Road 435. The service will be at the boat landing on the NW side of the lake.Launching a boat: You can launch from the beach area and paddle across the lake to the service or launch at the kayak/canoe landing. Good Morning Paddle: will depart from the kayak launch/service area at 9 AM for a circumnavigation of the lake to take in shared moments of awe and serenity.
Participating from shore: Please bring your own chair or blanket and arrive any time before 10 AM to locate a spot. Park at the canoe/kayak launch for close access or park at the beach area and walk ¾ of a mile along the trails.
Fee: Carpooling is encouraged! There is a $5.00/day per car. This fee is waived for those who have an annual pass, for tribal members, and for those who identify as financially insecure.
Other Info: If the weather is unsafe for gathering outdoors, we will cancel the evening prior to the service and will send out an email with more information. Pets are allowed on a leash. There are bathroom facilities at the beach area and an outhouse near the service area.
